How we collect your information and the type of information we hold

The information we hold about you will include the information you give to us when you registered for your Virgin Money Back account (such as name, date of birth, post code, email address and password).

In order to track any cashback you earn from your online purchases, we will also keep a record of your clicks to retailers’ websites and we will keep a record of your transaction details, including how much you spend on those websites and how much cashback you earn. Information about your visit may be collected automatically and may include the full URL clickstream to, through and from the Virgin Money Back website, products viewed or searched for, page response times, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information and methods used to browse away from the page. We may automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type and information, browser plug in types and versions, your login information and your operating system and platform.

In order to pay you cashback, we will hold your payment details. This means that you will need to provide us with your current account details in your Account. This data is only used for the purpose of paying cashback to you.

We may hold any other data that you send to us by email.

How we use your data

We will use your contact details to communicate with you and manage your account, to administer the Virgin Money Back website (which includes trouble shooting, data analysis and testing), to fulfil our regulatory and legal obligations and to remind you about the features and benefits of your account. Some of our service emails are essential to the administration of your account and so it is not possible to opt out of these but you can opt out of receiving marketing communications from us at any time within your account settings.

We also use your information to help provide a better service to you in the future by monitoring how you use the Virgin Money Back website. For example, we may use data about your purchase and click behaviour to email offers to you which we believe will be of interest to you.

All of our data is held on secure servers and your password and payment details are encrypted. Only staff members who need this information to provide the service have access to this data and they will only see limited information such as the last four digits of your bank account number.

Where we have given you (or you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of the Virgin Money Back site, you are responsible for keeping this password safe. We ask you not to share your password with anyone.

However, the transmission of data on the internet is not completely secure and is at your own risk. We cannot guarantee the security of data that you transmit to the Virgin Money Back website but we will do our best to protect your personal data and we will use strict procedures and security features to prevent unauthorised access to it.
